Bus terminals crowded as workers return to Metro

Traffic near bus terminals in several areas of Metro Manila was snarled even before dawn Tuesday, as workers ended their five-day "extended" Holy Week vacation and returned to work. Radio dzBB reported Tuesday morning that traffic along Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) was blocked in Quezon and Pasay Cities, and other areas where bus terminals were located. Among the areas where traffic was tight since Monday night were Cubao in Quezon City and Pasay City. On the other hand, motorists joined the predawn rush home in vehicles loaded with bicycles, rubber boats and other excursion equipment. Radio dzMM reported that some unscrupulous taxi drivers added to the traffic mess when they blocked the roads, hoping to get the attention of arriving passengers. Earlier, dzRH radio reported that some taxi drivers even charged extra, or forced passengers to agree to the "kontratahan" or prearranged system, for trips from bus terminals. - GMANews.TV
